One myth associated with senior living communities is that you’ll lose your independence and your whole life will change. In truth, you’ll not only continue to maintain your independence and lifestyle but gain even more freedom from the maintenance free living.
The following are five things you can continue to do when you move into a retirement community, and they are just the beginning.
5 Things You Can Continue after Your Move
1. Hosting Your Family
Myth: My hosting days are over. I won’t have the space or extra rooms for family visits or gatherings.
Reality: If you’ve always hosted your granddaughter’s birthday party, you can still do that. There are plenty of spaces on campus to use such as our main dining room, which can be reserved by residents at no cost.
If you have out of town family who want to spend the night we have two guest suits located in our main building on central campus. These accommodations are comparable to double queen hotel rooms but without the hotel price and can easily be reserved by residents.
2. Living in a Neighborhood
Myth: When I move I won’t actually be living in a neighborhood, it will be hard to make friends.
Reality: Whether you’re living in an apartment or a villa you’ll be living in a true neighborhood.Neighbors will quickly turn into friends and you can be as involved as you want to be in the events happening on campus.
Our senior living community is flat, walkable and has common spaces and destinations for you to enjoy such as:
- North Campus clubhouse
- South Campus gazebo
- Copperlight Café
- Campus Shop
- Art Studio
- Connection – fitness and wellness center
- Stonecreek Dining Company
- Toast and Berry – Breakfast, Lunch and Coffee Bar
3. Full Sized Appliances
Myth: I’ll have to downsize to a studio or small apartment and may not have a stove or washer and dryer in my unit.
Reality: Twin Lakes senior living apartments have full-sized appliances in both the kitchen and laundry giving you the freedom to prepare meals and do laundry in your own apartment. This means you don’t have to give up preparing family dinners or baking your famous banana bread.
Full-sized appliances included:
- Electric Oven
All appliances are maintained and replaced by Twin Lakes. So if it breaks you just call us and we repair or replace it.
Myth: I won’t be allowed to travel anymore after I move in.
Reality: Traveling while living at Twin Lakes will be the easiest you’ve ever done. With just one phone call you can have a round-trip chauffeur to the airport, saving you money in parking fees.
While you’re gone we’ll keep an eye on your home and with your permission, can even have it cleaned while you’re away. For snowbirds, we offer a special credit for those that will be gone for a minimum of one consecutive month.
Myth: I can’t take my dog or cat with me, which is making my decision to move very difficult.
Reality: We know you love your pet and he or she is welcome on our campus. Independent residents can have up to two pets for no additional cost. For dog owners we have plenty of indoor and outdoor space to walk your dog:
- North Campus
- South Campus
- Central Campus (indoors and outdoors)
- Walking Path (one mile)
- Villa residents have a front and backyard as well as common outdoor spaces in their neighborhood.
